PDAC, Toronto - Canada, 2nd-5th March 2025: our team was represented by Director of Outreach & Research, Alicia Polo y La Borda, attending the conference.

Mines and Money, Miami - USA, 20th-21st February 2025: Director of Outreach & Research, Alicia Polo y La Borda was at Mines & Money in Miami. Alicia was a panelist for a discussion on "Establishing Traceability, Transparency & Sustainability in Mineral Supply Chains." Changes in mining policy were a key theme of the discussions in Miami.

Investing in African Mining Indaba, Cape Town - South Africa, 3rd-6th February 2025: Executive Director, Michèle Brülhart was at Mining Indaba where the theme was "Future-proofing African Mining, Today!". With the first site in Africa being awarded the Copper Mark in 2024, the momentum was carried into discussing how responsible production is key to ensuring the 'future-proofing' of mining.

2024

Michèle Brülhart was a panelist at Resourcing Tomorrow, in London - England, on 3-5 December. Michèle participated in two panels discussing the evolution of the ESG standards landscape and the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative. The conversation included the ways in which transparency and implementation at scale of ESG standards are able to support better alignment and use of them by investors and the downstream.

Michèle Brülhart was in Geneva at the 20th IGF Mining Annual General Meeting. Michèle participated in Session 7: Navigating Global Mining Standards and discussed how the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative is a step towards simplifying the global landscape of mining standards. An interesting discussion, highlighting how complex the standard landscape has become and stressing the need to ensure standards are not only implemented, but produce the desired outcome of better practices.

Alicia Polo y La Borda participated as panelist at the Critical Minerals Symposium in Golden, Colorado, on 12-13 September 2024.

Hillary Amster visited the Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) with Towards Sustainability Mining (TSM), on 6 - 8 August, to create a space to discuss how the community can engage with TSM and the Copper Mark considering their proximity to several mine sites.

LME's Responsible Sourcing Requirements: how can the Copper Mark help copper, lead, nickel and zinc brands meet compliance?  Open to Asia / Australia-based companies in particular, this session was hosted by London Metal Exchange and the Copper Mark to review how the Copper Mark Assurance Process and the Joint Due Diligence Standard can support brand compliance to LME's responsible sourcing requirements.
