LME’s Responsible Sourcing Requirements: how can the Copper Mark help copper, lead, nickel and zinc brands meet compliance?  Open to Asia / Australia-based companies in particular, this session was hosted by London Metal Exchange and the Copper Mark to review how the Copper Mark Assurance Process and the Joint Due Diligence Standard can support brand compliance to LME’s responsible sourcing requirements.

OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains, 26-27 April 2023, Paris, France.  The Copper Mark co-hosted with IMOA, the International Zinc Association, and the Nickel Institute, “Copper, Molybdenum, Nickel & Zinc: Collaboration on Responsible Production.”  The side session was held on Wednesday, 26 April.

CESCO Week / World Copper Conference, 17-19 April 2023, Santiago de Chile.  Michèle Brülhart spoke on two panels during this event:

We participated in the IGF 18th Annual General Meeting, 7-10 November 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Staff presented at COPPER 2022‘s The future ESG challenges for the copper industry, 14-16 November 2022 in Santiago, Chile.

The Copper Mark was pleased to represent at Asia Copper Week 2022, 24-26 November 2022 in Singapore.

From 24-28 October 2022, the Copper Mark joined colleagues across the metals industry in London, UK at LME week.

On 25 October 2022, ASI, Copper Mark and RMI held a webinar called 45 minutes on grievance mechanisms, in which the organizations outlined their respective requirements regarding Grievance Mechanisms in their Standards and BSR introduced the recently developed training and how it will practically support businesses in implementing and/or improving their own Grievance Mechanism(s).

What is the role of copper in the clean energy and digital transition?  The Copper Mark joined colleagues from the EU-Latin American Partnership on Raw Materials to explore on 15 September 2022.

As part of German Sustainability Building Council’s digital action week, the Copper Mark presented on Copper as a sustainable material for Green Building on 12 September 2022.

The Copper Mark spoke at Euro Mine Expo from 14-16 June 2022 on the panel Responsible Mining – A Global Challenge on 15 June 2022.

The Copper Mark joined other ESG Standard Owners for a discussion hosted by PDAC: Looking Past Peak Standard: The Art of the Possible in Alignment, Equivalency and Convergence between Mining’s Community of ESG on 19 May 2022.

The Copper Mark and the Responsible Minerals Initiative hosted a Risk Readiness Assessment (RRA) Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on 11 May 2022 from 9:30 am – 12 pm CET. 

We attended the OECD 2022 Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains, held from 2-5 May 2022, where Michèle Brülhart spoke on the panel Strengthening the coherence of due diligence infrastructure on 5 May 2022.

The Copper Mark participated in The World Copper Conference and CESCO Week in Santiago, Chile from 28 – 30 March 2022. Michèle Brülhart moderated a panel on “Why responsible business is good business” on 30 March 2022.

CRU hosted CEO Roundtable for Investors: Aluminium, copper & steel sustainability assurance on 1 February 2022.

CESCO and EY Chile hosted El éxito de la minería del mañana, ¿depende de la sustentabilidad de hoy? (the success of mining of tomo rrow, does it depend on sustainability of today?).  Michèle Brülhart gave the keynote speech on Tuesday, 23 November 2021 at 9 am Chile / 7 am Eastern.

 

The International Energy Agency (IEA) identifies copper as one of the critical minerals to power the “clean energy demand.”   On 7 October, The Copper Mark and the Responsible Mining Foundation (RMF) hosted a discussion on synergies between voluntary standards and the finance community to promote teh responsible production of and investment in copper.  Watch the recording of Mainstreaming high environmental and social standards in copper production: The role of finance.

Embellie Advisory’s ESG Certification in the Mining Sector, hosted on 26th August, looked at different ESG certification schemes for the mining sector.  Understanding how to navigate the various systems is key to meeting market and legislative demands.

Traceability and Sustainability Indicators: Measuring and Reporting was one of multiple panels at the Sustainable Mining 2021 Conference that streamed live from Chile 12-14 May 2021. The Copper Mark joined a panel discussing impact, transparency, and credibility in sustainable mining.

 

The Copper Mark joined leading copper experts at Roskill’s Copper 2021 conference: Copper and the EV Revolution.  Michèle Brülhart discussed responsible production: building the foundation for the clean energy transition.

Government delegates who are members of the International Copper Study Group joined the Web Meetings on 29-30 April 2021.  The Copper Mark discussed responsible copper production.

The Copper Mark co-hosted a side event with the ASI, CCCMC, ITA, LME, and RMI discussing Progressing OECD-based due diligence in base metal supply chains on 29 April 2021.

The 2021 OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains 27-28 April 2021 is the annual event for responsible mineral sourcing.  The Copper Mark moderated A needed paradigm shift: moving from de-risking to risk mitigation.  Click HERE for the recording of this and other sessions.
