The Copper Mark is seeking a technical consultant or firm to conduct a consistency review and feasibility assessment of the three interlinked documents of Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative‘s (CMSI) framework:
- The Consolidated Mining Standard, structured around defined performance areas and progressive levels of practice.
- The Assurance Process Manual, setting out the requirements for credible third-party assessment and quality oversight.
- The Claims Policy, governing the claims that may be made by participating facilities.
Together, these documents form an integrated system intended to maintain clarity on what is required, how performance is assessed, and how outcomes may be communicated.
The CMSI documents have been developed through a transparent standard-setting process, guided by ISEAL’s Code of Good Practice. The process included two rounds of public consultation and input from a Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) and an Industry Advisory Group (IAG). As the documents approach finalisation, a final consistency review and feasibility assessment is required to confirm:
- internal coherence within each document and consistency of framing across sections,
- alignment across all three documents as a single system,
- the feasibility and auditability of the proposed standard and system, and
- considerations for effective adoption and implementation under the evolved Copper Mark Board and organisation.
The consistency review and feasibility assessment will be used to inform subsequent revisions and support governance approval.
Once finalised the evolved Copper Mark organisation will take ownership and manage implementation the new mining Standard.
